Yonex Astrox 99 Tour Black-Green – a stiff setup for powerful attacking play

Looking for a distinctly head-heavy setup for your overhead attacks and prefer a stiff shaft? The Yonex Astrox 99 Tour Black-Green 4U/G5 combines these characteristics with 2G-Namd FLEX FORCE in the frame and shaft. Made in Taiwan, this Yonex badminton racket is aimed at advanced club and tournament players who build rallies with control and take their opportunities with powerful smashes.

Does the Astrox 99 Tour suit your game?

A good match for: technically confident players who value a head-heavy balance and firm shaft feedback. The Tour is particularly worth considering for attacking singles and the rear-court role in doubles if you prepare your attacks carefully and actively accelerate the racket.

Less suitable if: you want a flexible shaft or a head-light balance for particularly easy handling. Even at approximately 83 g unstrung, the 99 Tour remains a demanding attacking racket. For a medium-flex alternative, compare it with the Astrox 99 Game.

What sets the Astrox 99 Tour apart

2G-Namd FLEX FORCE in the frame and shaft: This graphite material is designed for quick flex and recovery. In the frame, Yonex combines it with HM Graphite, CSR and Tungsten; in the shaft, with HM Graphite.

Head-focused weight distribution: The Power Assist Bumper places weight at the top of the frame, while the Lightweight End Cap reduces weight at the handle end. The Enhanced Rotational Generator System coordinates the weight distribution for consecutive attacks.

Shot Information Connector with Anti-Torsion Shaft: This construction is designed to limit shaft twisting and support feedback at impact. The frame shape concentrates the effective hitting area for powerful shots rather than promising greater forgiveness across the board.

Astrox 99 Tour, Pro or Game?

The Astrox 99 Pro Black-Green is also stiff and uses 2G-Namd FLEX FORCE in the frame and shaft. It is made in Japan, features CFR rather than CSR in the frame and additionally includes Ultra PE Fiber in the shaft. The Tour therefore offers a similar attacking orientation without being technically identical to the Pro.

The Astrox 99 Game Black-Green, by contrast, has medium shaft flexibility and a material combination with 2G-NANOMESH NEO. It is the relevant comparison if you want to combine a head-heavy setup with a more flexible shaft response.
