Yonex Astrox 88S Pro Third Generation – a stiff setup for active front-court play

The Yonex Astrox 88S Pro Third Generation 4U/G5 combines a head-heavy balance with a stiff shaft. This Japanese-made Yonex badminton racket is aimed at technically confident club and tournament players who want to take the initiative at the net in doubles or mixed doubles and shape flat exchanges with accurate placement and quick follow-up shots.

Does the Astrox 88S Pro suit your game?

A good match for: advanced doubles and mixed doubles players who combine delicate net shots, fast drives and well-placed finishes. The specification is particularly worth considering if you use compact, controlled movements and prefer firm shaft feedback.

Less suitable if: you want a flexible shaft or specifically prefer a head-light balance. Its front-court focus does not make the 88S Pro a flexible beginner racket. Compare the 88S Game for a medium-flex alternative, or the 88D Pro if rear-court attacking play is your clear priority.

What sets the Astrox 88S Pro apart

Stiff shaft with 2G-Namd FLEX FORCE: The slim shaft combines HM Graphite, 2G-Namd FLEX FORCE and Ultra PE Fiber. The material specification is designed for quick flex and recovery. Ultra PE Fiber adds shock-absorbing properties to the construction.

Expanded hitting area for control: Yonex tailors the 88S frame shape to provide a generous effective hitting area. Together with an overall length that is 5 mm shorter than the 88D Pro, this design supports the model’s focus on fast exchanges and precise front-court play.

Weight distribution for consecutive shots: The Rotational Generator System coordinates weight distribution at the handle end, frame and joint area. The Power Assist Bumper at the top of the frame uses tungsten-infused nylon. AERO+BOX Frame and Energy Boost Cap Plus complete the construction.

String tension: maximum 12.5 kg

This upper limit must not be exceeded. It is not a recommended tension for every player; the right tension depends on your technique and preferred playing feel.

88S Pro, 88D Pro or another model tier?

The Astrox 88D Pro Third Generation also has a stiff shaft and is made in Japan. It is 5 mm longer and places greater emphasis on repeated rear-court attacks. Choosing between S and D is therefore mainly about your playing focus, rather than a fundamentally softer or stiffer shaft.

The Astrox 88S Tour Third Generation is also stiff, but is made in Taiwan. It uses CSR rather than CFR in the frame and does not include Ultra PE Fiber in its listed shaft composition. A similar overall approach therefore does not mean identical construction.

For a more flexible shaft response, the medium-flex Astrox 88S Game Third Generation is the relevant comparison. Explore further models in our Yonex Astrox badminton rackets range.

Supertoller Astrox 88S Pro
Echte Empfehlung!
