Badminton shorts must allow quick starts, jumps, deep lunges and lateral changes of direction. The waistband should remain secure without cutting in or slipping during play.

Materials and performance features

Many badminton shorts use lightweight synthetic fibres or functional blended fabrics. Stretch, moisture-management and quick-drying properties vary between individual models.

Choosing the correct size and fit

Sizes and cuts differ between manufacturers and models. Many shorts are classified as men’s or unisex designs. Waist size, leg width and preferred length are more important than the category label alone.

Waistband, pockets and leg length

Elastic waistbands provide a comfortable fit, while a drawcord allows more precise adjustment. Side pockets are useful during training and leisure, although objects inside them may interfere with dynamic movement.

Shorter designs feel particularly mobile, while medium-length shorts provide additional coverage. The preferred length depends on personal comfort and cut.

Badminton shorts for clubs and teams

Neutral colours and long-term collections are useful for teams. Black or white shorts can normally be combined with a wide range of team shirts.
